The Tortoise and the Hare is a great story that has been told for years。 This illustration in the book is very unique。 I really like how there are little pops of colors like the tortoise。 The tortoise is one of the main characters and is talked a lot about and the bright green makes him stand out even more。 The illustrations look like that were drawn by hand and colored in。

This book shows young children to never give up, no matter how hard something may seem。 When you push through something, you are more likely to win。 When you give up, you will never be able to know your true limits and what you can accomplish。 This story is a great way to show your children that anything is possible once you set your mind to it。

Hare in Tortoise and the Hare is overconfident。 Hare shows this through by constantly making fun of Tortoise and specifically targeting the Tortoise for being a little slow。 For example, Hare said,“ You're so slow, I could beat at a race, Hopping on one paw”。 This shows that Hare is overconfident and is full of himself!Another reason why Hare in Tortoise and Hare is overconfident is because He is always bragging and full of himself。 The text says, “The Hare had been up all night before, laughing and bragging about how he would beat the Tortoise, so he was very sleepy。”And the most important reason, Hare was confident that he literally stopped during the middle of his big race to get a drink, get a snack, and actually take a nap during the big race。 “ Hare was so far ahead that he decided to stop at Bear’s House for something cool to drink。” Another stop he made was at the mouse's house to get a snack。 “ The Hare passed Tortoise for the second time for a snack “。 And lastly he stopped to take a nap。” Hare was so sure he would win, he took a nap in the soft grass。 As he closed his eyes, he dreamed of victory”。 Consequently, this led to him losing the race and getting super embarrassed。 The author, Janet Stevens could have just let Hare go as fast as he can and finish the race, but instead she let the Hare make those stops, and let the Tortoise win。 This helps the reader understand that the Hare really was super overconfident。As you can see, Hare in The Tortoise and The Hare is way too confident。 This led him to losing the big race while everyone in town was watching。 This really taught me to never get too ahead of myself。 You never know what is going to happen because anything can happen anywhere at any time。 You might just get a little too confident and end up embarrassing yourself。 。。。more
